Lessons learned from ABDC for business practices

As a business owner, I’ve learned to try and find lessons from various sources that can help me manage my business. Some of those lessons were learned recently while I watched MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew (ABDC). This is the first year that two female groups have made it to the top three. One of them was in the bottom two slots three weeks in a row based on viewer votes but they performed well enough for the judges to end up as one of the top three.
The two groups are Beat Freaks (made it to the top two) and Fly Kicks (made it to the 3rd spot). Each of these two dance teams have had varying levels of success on the dance show. What did I learn from both of these groups? Glad you asked and here is the list:
- Don’t give up regardless how bad things may seem. Even when it looks like you are down for the count, keep punching and make the best of your situation.
- Stay focused and keep hope alive. Many have said this and I want to say it again to reinforce the power behind these words.
- Never look at defeat as the end of your story. Look at it as the beginning of another chapter in your life.
- Always be aware of your business environment and know what works for your business and what doesn’t. When you figure it out, stick with it and refine it.
- In working as a team, it is important to be supportive of each other. Even if a team member messes up, being supportive can help hold the team together.
Keeping these things in mind when managing your business can help you have a successful team.
