Let the Games Begin!
Tomorrow (08/08/08) marks the opening of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Of course, the Olympics are, primarily, an athletic event. But over the years, other factions (social, political, religious and humanitarian) have used the Olympics as a global platform. And these games, given the venue, has already sparked controversy and concern.
US President, George Bush, has made the trip to China – and is planning to attend both the Opening Ceremonies and many sporting events as well. Many foreign leaders and activists had called for a “diplomatic” boycott of the games in protest of the Chinese government’s Tibetan policy, and other cited human rights violations.
There are a multitude of issues (from basic rights to the genocide in Darfur) and there’s no “easy” answer – but President Bush has publicly condemned the detainment of political and religious protesters, while recognizing the importance of the growing relationship with China – primarily economic, but also culturally and politically.
And, I’ll admit that I was surprised to learn that President Bush is the first US President to attend the Olympic games on foreign soil. That is remarkable – especially regarding the contoversy surrounding this Olympiad.

Bush is always making a fool of himself. Now the Bush policy tortures, rapes, kidnaps and kills innocent men/women/children. Bush even keeps people in jail for life why because he wants to. China has already known that 9/11 attack was done by the US/Saudi while blaming Bin Laden. The only people that believe the lying White House is the American people. Even honest Journalist have moved on pass the Criminal White House. At lease the China President got a good like at the idiot US President.
