Light the Torch Thanks!

Hey Fellow Bloggers!
I just wanted to extend my thanks on behalf of b5media and the sports channel for your phenomenal efforts with Light the Torch. We did a great thing. Though the final numbers are not in, we raised several hundred dollars for athletic organizations, got accepted into Google News (did anyone ever see any content come from there?) and provided quite a buzz around the internet.
Though b5media will directly benefit from these things, I know we all will take something away because we crossed blogging lines, enjoyed the competitions at the Games and among ourselves and simply let our hair down (figuratively, in my case) and had a blast. What’s truly amazing is how quickly we pulled Light the Torch together and how quickly we made it a smashing success. Thank YOU!
Light the Torch is not through, though our time as a collective group of bloggers is. At this point, we’ll begin looking forward to Beijing in 2008 while covering international games in between. Naturally, part of the process is to determine who is going to take this blog that already has traffic, stats and Google News membership. But that’s our concern for now.
I simply wanted to thank you all for your participation and I can’t wait for our blogs and networks to intersect again!

Aaron…I looked every day on Google News for our story…but have not found it thus far.
Will keep you posted.
While “several hundred dollars” doesn’t sound like much, everybit helps and I hope the gesture inspires other olympic blogs to consider doing the same – and support athletes.
Any idea what organization to donate to? Maybe you should pop up a poll in the sidebar and take suggestions … me? I’d probably just suggest that Right to Play organization that Clara Hughes pledged her own $10,000 .. her challenge has now brought the total up to over $150,000 in pledges.
I’m not sure what Joey Cheek’s influence tally is at the moment – from his initial donations of his winnings (which helped tremendously to that cause it seems) – Last I heard it was up to about $300,000 in pledges.
