Part 10 of My Series About LinkedIn
Are you in the market for a job? Are you employed and looking to make a career change? LinkedIn Jobs and Hiring brings a unique approach to the hiring process. How so you might ask?
LinkedIn gives you the opportunity to network into a job. People did that prior to LinkedIn, but with the chances of networking into your next position increases exponentially because you are truly connected to so many more people than you may have ever been. You have a visual picture of your Connections and you have a vehicle to facilitate the networking process. I believe that is a unique tool for helping to connect people to people and connecting people into organizations. LinkedIn gives you a back door into organizations through people connecting with people.
Some of the tools available on LinkedIn Jobs & Hiring include:
1. Search Option – “Find Your Next Job Through Your Network”
2. Tips to Finding Jobs On LinkedIn
*Update your profile and make it available to the public
*Recommendations – You have the option to request recommendations from those who know you in your network. The people you can ask are previous employers, coworkers.3. Your Connections – This option gives you access through the back door I mentioned earlier. Connecting with someone in the organization who is also within the LinkedIn community is at a minimum an option to leverage in your pursuit for new employment.
4. Jobinsider is a tool available through LinkedIn. The tool will show you how you are connected through your LinkedIn network to other job opportunities found online. Jobinsider is connected to Monster, Careerbuilder and Craigslist.
I am not in the market for a job. At least not from the standpoint that I attempting to network my way into a job. I am actually in the process of changing the direction of my career. So I have not used LinkedIn to find a new job. What I can tell you is that I have found people on LinkedIn who have been able to network themselves into a new position through their LinkedIn Connections.
Have you been able to use LinkedIn to find a new job? I would love to hear your story. Leave a comment below with your story. You never know I might feature your story in a blog post before the month is over!!
