We often laugh because we’re happy, and when we’re sad, laughing can make us feel happy and healthy. Laughter releases endorphins, neurotransmitters that have pain-relieving properties similar to morphine and are probably connected to euphoric feelings, appetite modulation, and the release of sex hormones.
Studies have shown that laughter boosts the immune system in variety of ways. When you’re stressed out and worried about finding a job or keeping a job I would say laughter can be your friend. Laughter doeth well like a medicine.
If you are feeling stressed in the midst of your job search or there is stress for you in your attempt to keep your job, I want to suggest laughter as a potential stress reliever. Rather feeling bogged down or even overwhelmed dealing with the issues of your life, step back away from the issues and choose to do something fun, something you enjoy doing, something that will make you Laugh Out Loud – LOL.
Here are a few things you might want to consider:
1. Find a comedy – a movie or television show that will make you laugh.
2. Invite friends over and play charades, Win, Lose or Draw, or something similar.
3. White Elephant games are another source of laughter for groups.
My suggestions are just that – suggestions. I am really more interested in making a point, that laughter can be used in the midst of your stressful issues to help you move closer to accomplishing your goals rather than allowing depression to set in. So many people are frustrated with their attempts to find a job, but people with jobs are equally frustrated. Rather than allowing those feelings of frustration to overtake you, find something that will make you laugh. If it is a show or a joke or whatever, throw your head back and let out a huge laugh – LOL. Let the laugher overtake you and watch for a fresh perspective on life and living.
