Looking to Relocate your Office? Try a Metal Shipping Container!

Last week, Hilary Feldman posted a really great story at About my Planet – homes made from old shipping containers!

These old shipping containers usually just sit around at docks getting rusty, but recently, people are beginning to see how useful they can be. Put up some drywall inside and add some windows, and you have yourself a house!

Even better – thinking about renting office space or adding an addition onto your house for a home business? Building a store front? Storage containers give you tons of options, and it is a great way to recycle something that doesn’t really have another use.

You can check out pictures at About my Planet, or go to Fabprefab.com to see a list of companies offering shipping container architecture!

  1. Thursday says:

My dad had about 30 Conex boxes (same thing as shipping containers) at one point, and he got them all for free. If you live near a military base, you can often pick them up for only the price of hauling them off.

Just one warning — your neighbors may threaten to sue if your shipping container is visible from the street.

    They seem so precariously stacked!
