LT and the Chargers have little time left

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
A few years ago a man named LaDainian Tomlinson ran like no other back in the history of the NFL. LT scored over 31 touchdowns in one season to break the National Football League record. Not to mention he ran for over 1,800 yards that year.

There was one big problem that year, though, and it had to do with LT’s team. They did not get to the Super Bowl, because Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts pulled out a victory in a game where the Chargers just seemed to lose their poise and do all kinds of crazy stuff.

Now LT is back after two injury filled seasons and looking at this year as a great opportunity to help his team to the Super Bowl. The Chargers really need to make a huge push for the Super Bowl this year, because the status of many of their star players is on the line.

That future could soon exclude Tomlinson, who is entering his ninth year. That’s borrowed time for an NFL running back. Yet, he’s not the only prominent Charger entering the final year of his contract. Among the others are quarterback Philip Rivers, linebacker Shawne Merriman, wide receivers Vincent Jackson, Chris Chambers and Malcolm Floyd, running back/return man Darren Sproles and left tackle Marcus McNeill.

In other words, pretty much the nucleus of the team is in flux.

Hard to believe the San Diego Chargers and LaDainian Tomlinson are an aging crew with few chances left, but they had better believe it and make a run for the title this year, because for several Chargers there may not be a next year.

One player does have a next year and that player is LT himself. The Chargers restructured his contract this year to keep him around and he is ready to be the LT of old.
