MacBook X-Rayed!

Ever wondered what the Aluminum MacBook would look like under an x-ray? My friend Jason wondered the same thing and did something about it. The picture above is an x-ray image of his MacBook. Cool huh.
Examining the x-ray image gives you a glimpse or the wonderful way the MacBook was put together.
I’ve seen a lot of dismantled images of MacBooks but this is the first x-ray image I’ve seen. Enjoy!
Thanks Jason for allowing me to post the image.
Edit (11/20/2008)
Jason graciously has made the hi-res version of the x-ray image available for download. Please download it here. The password for accessing the site is “theaftermac”. Enjoy!

is there any way i can get a bigger version of this it would make an AWESOME back ground on my Aluminum macbook thanks in advance
I’ll ask my friend, the person who x-rayed it. I’ll post the hi-res version here if he allows it for download.
Could Jason tell us what happened to the X-ray? What next? MRI? :D
I’d also like to see the hi-res versions for a background. schweetness…
I too would love the X-Ray as a desktop background, it would be funny as my girlfriend asked me yesterday to make her a background of a knee metal plates to put on her destop… The macbook would show how geeky I am ;-)
Yeah! Hi-res please!!! : D
MRI?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging? What do you think might happen to a laptop that has metal in it…. and is exposed to a magnet thousands of times more powerful than any you’ve played with before?
On a side note - if anyone has too much cash - take a nice slow-mo vid of that.
Hi-Res Pleaseeee
me three, high res pretty please! =)
@Sravan: The x-ray machine (a small one located at my brother’s vet clinic) survived the ordeal ;-)
@theweakend, Jacob: You can get a high-res image here: http://drop.io/macbook_xray
The password for accessing the site is “theaftermac” and the file will be available for a month.
Enjoy!
I’m just another one who would like a very hi-res version!!!
An ideia: your friend should x-ray other MacBook models as well and make a set!
I third that request for a hi-rez version. On my old TiBook, my favorite background was just such an X-ray shot of that very computer. Instant geek cred…
Thanks for the Hi-Res :-)
sorry that link you sent is not a hi-rez version. unless i am missing something?
@theweakend - it is. here’s what you need to do. Click on the link or type it in. Login using the password. You’ll be presented with a thumbnail of the image. Click on that and an overlay/pop-up will appear. There’s a link above that says download the image. Download that image and that should be good.
The link is not working, you can access the drop.io account but no image is found. I’ve tried this before, after specific number of downloads it deletes the file…
Can’t see an image in http://drop.io/macbook_xray? Tested on Safari/Win, Firefox/Win and IE/Win… How can I download it?
:/ seems some one deleted the image now because it is no longer in the http://drop.io/macbook_xray sorry if i am being a little tenacious
Is it me or the image isn’t there anymore? I log in and see only a white and empty page with some links on the side but nothing works here!
I tried with firefox & Safari … no thumbnail :-(
Could you email me the backdrop?
Kay
Which idiot did click on the “delete” button??! It would be great, if someone could put this hires picture on his ftp or http webspace.
THNX!!! :)
Here’s another copy that someone else put up:

and damn is it more lovely then i imagined
Guys, there’s another link to the download image. I’m also seeing what I can do to get the image up for download.

Voilà, l’image a été remise en place sur :

Sweet picture! I have technical questions… I’m an x-ray tech and I was wondering what you used (technique-wise kVp/mAs). I’m guessing it’s digital equipment w/ laser printer? Did you scan the pic or are the dust/artifacts from the cassette? If it turns out I won’t get fired for it, I might try it with my macbook pro at work. :)
Just wanted to say thanks for the hi-res image!
Yay, Juan. Great job for sharing this. And kudos to your friend Jason. :)
@kaia - As far as I know Jason used an old x-ray machine. The one with film. He did it at his bro’s vet clinic. He then scanned the film and cleaned it up a little using Photoshop.
I used to have an X-Ray picture of a titanium powerbook as my desktop picture back in the day when I had my titanium powerbook!
You’d see the same thing if you ripped the keyboard element off of your laptop.
This is beautiful
this is fantastic.
now what i would love is an x-ray of my 24″ imac. So that i could do the “true” see through desktop thing. instead of having what’s on the other side of the wall, have what is inside the computer.
thanks for this one to tide me over.
If you want to get a cheap price on an xrayed macbook visit MacBook Cheap http://www.macbookcheap.com
Mac hardware is terrible, X-Rayed or not. In 15 years of my time 5 Macs broke down completely between 1-2 years.Last one is a Macbook Pro 18 months old.
That would be awesome as a wallpaper. :-D
