Major League Baseball: Major League Blogging

If you have been wondering whether your business was right for blogging, take a hint from Major League Baseball’s new advertising campaign which combines the phenomenon of blogging right in its post-season commercials.
MLB is working with Fox Sports to create commercials showing celebrities like Jeff Foxworthy (Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader), Randy Jackson (American Idol), Timothy Hutton (Leverage) blogging. Other commercials include President Bush-impersonator Frank Caliendo and the animated character Stewie from Family Guy. And starting this month, commercials will include actual players from pennant-contending teams blogging about their experiences.
The commercials underscore that blogging has become truly ingrained in our way of life. Blogging is no longer the exclusive domain of technophiles and computer geeks. Everyone from the President to sports jocks to comedians to animated cartoons are assumed to have a blog and something to blog about.
And in the words of Tim Brosnan, Major League Baseball’s executive Vice President for business, NY Times, August 27th:
”Blogging is kind of the high currency of the interactive space right now”
What do you think of the commercials? Funny? Effective? Clever?
