During the week of March 9 – 14, “Make a Referral Week“ will be conducted to help small business owners receive project referrals. Basically, those who participate in the event will blog about other business owners and refer business contacts to them.

I found out about this event from John Jantsch of Duct Tape Marketing as he is encouraging many to participate. The important thing to remember is that this is about giving a referral to help a small business owner grow their business. My expectation is that I will find many resources who I will be able to not only connect with and share referrals but also to build business partnerships.
Some of the ways that you can particpate are:
- Post to Twitter and add the hastag “#marw09″ to your tweet.
- Follow @DuctTape on Twitter
- Signup as a participant by clicking on the information below
- Add a post to your blog about the event
- Participate during the week of the event.
The goals for the “Make a Referral Week” was simply explained on their website that….
Make a Referral Week is an entrepreneurial approach to stimulating the small business economy one referred business at a time. The goal for the week is to generate 1000 referred leads to 1000 deserving small businesses in an effort to highlight the impact of a simple action that could blossom into millions of dollars in new business. Small business is the lifeblood and job-creating engine of the economy and merits the positive attention so often saved for corporate bailout stories.
