Makes, Models and US Jobs
This is a strange new service, but it does add one more (headache-inducing) consideration to the list of things for U.S. citizens to think about when choosing their new car.
Jobspercar.com offers consumers a JPC rating, letting them know the number of Americans who (potentially) count on your car purchase to make ends meet. Wow … and you thought green had the corner on guilt-driven marketing.
Lets see how our favorite hybrid models are doing?
Okay … now I’m confused. Toyota’s Prius, Toyota’s Camry Hybrid and Toyota’s Highlander Hybrid all received THE SAME SCORE — 32. That’s despite the Camry hybrid being manufactured in the US. I would think that would have some impact on the number of U.S. jobs affected by the car.
Most of today’s available hybrids aren’t on the list, and some car companies are missing entirely, but the Ford Escape hybrid is there – rated an 81 – as is the Honda Civic hybrid – at 45.
So, apparently, cars made by American companies have a bigger impact on U.S. workers than cars made by foreign companies. Yeh. With some tweaking, this could be a really “neat” service.
