Making Plans To Have a Banner Business Year In 2008

Yes, it’s that time again. Time to write down all of my goals, resolutions, promises, “to-do’s” and want-to-do’s. Only thing is, I usually give up on them all within the first week of writing them down! So, nix on the resolution thing.
There is one thing though that I am mentally planning on doing differently in 2008. My plans for my business(es) are to grow it to a level that I’ve only been dreaming of. Sure, we all have business goals. But do we actually take the steps necessary to reach those goals? Sometimes we don’t. We look at others and only wish. Like, my co-blog friend, Kristen King over at inkthinkerblog.com. She shared with us what her freelancing income was this year and there were comments on there about how they wish too that they could garner that type of income. I say you can. Her post really sparked it for some and I chance to say that there will be more freelancers meeting their goals in 2008 because of that motivating post. What’s holding YOU back from reaching your goals? Nothing.
I have a professional speaking business that I manage and freelance writing clients that I maintain in addition to a full and busy personal life. My excuses are not more or less than anyone else’s excuses. My goal is to increase my routine speaking clientele by about 30-35% (which for me wil be an additional 4 steady clients) and my freelance writing assignments by about 15%. I will do this by setting weekly and monthly attainable goals to that end that will allow me to see results on a weekly basis and hopefully (no, will!) translate into more business. We all have a lot to do a little time to do it in. But, the difference is whether or not we will allow those “excuses” to continue holding us back from having a banner year. I, for one, am going to set the bar high for my business and when I check back with you guys on 12/31/08, I will have reached goals that I’ve only been dreaming of. Won’t you join me?
Send me a comment, a post or an email about your 1 business goal that you have for your business in 2008. Just one. I want to see what your goal is and make blog posts or send you information on how to achieve that goal and keep you motivated while you are reaching it. We can reach those business goals, not only if we try, but if we do.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you all and seeing your business goals come to fruition. Here’s to a banner year for 2008! (glasses clinking)

The one business goal that I have, is to start investing more in the market (mutual funds and equities), and make my money grow. (I am tired of seeing it, lazing and bumming around all the time.)
Mine is to work more efficiently. That is, stay focused on what I’m going and get through tasks more quickly without getting distracted by nonessentials so I can better manage my time.
