Olympics Day 3 - Boxing

I confess: Olympic boxing tends to confuse me. There are so many weight classifications and a seemingly endless array of competitors. The good news is that b5media has a blog devoted just to all things boxing, Jab and Grapple.”

Michael Sedor, the author of “Jab and Grapple” is a big fan of the Olympics and has been posting several times daily since the Games began about the boxing competition. Be sure to visit him for the latest in boxing.

  1. Bob Caccia says:

I am a life long fan of boxing and boxed in college (that may tell you how old I am since boxing has been dropped in colleges for a very long time). The best comment that I have heard regarding Olympic boxing is that it is fencing without electronic scoring mixed with bar room wrestling.I have stopped watching it is too painful. The scoring is terribly confusing especially when the blue fighter scores a punch on the re fighter’s face and the red fighter gets a point. Apparently if you are hit in the face you have a good chance of scoring a point. After watching several bouts and trying to figure out the scoring one is driven to have another beer hoping that alcoholic induced brain confusion may dispell the confusion. In any event, I sympathize with Teddy Atlas who must experiencing great pain as he does his best to explain what the hell is happening.

Boxing should be dropped along with “professional baseball, professional softball and professional basketball. So long Olympics, I have seen enough!
