Mark Cuban Endorses Steroid Use

Sometimes, I think that Mark Cuban, the loud and overbearing owner of the Dallas Mavericks, likes to just say things that will get him publicity. It’s almost as if he craves the spotlight so much that when it’s not shining directly on him, he comes up with a way to shift it back in his direction.

Mark Cuban believes steriod use can be a positive thing ...
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Cuban made this astonishing quote in regards to steroid use by professional athletes:
“I’ll get killed for saying this, but I’m not so against steroids if they’re administered under proper supervision and there is no long-term damage.”
I’m sorry, what?
Apparently Cuban thinks that steroids could be used to help athletes recover from injuries, and as long as they are administered properly by doctors there shouldn’t be a problem.
Well, the problem is that steroids have been proven to cause long-term effects and damage — whether they are administered by a doctor or not.
Is Cuban being serious or is he just trying to shift the spotlight back over his head? I don’t know, but I do know this — the purity of professional sports has been tainted enough by the use of steroids and performance-enhancing drugs. Imagine what would happen if steroids were legal?
