What does one of the world’s premier ski resorts do to attract visitors in this luxury-free economic environment? They lower the pre-sale price of their lift tickets to the lowest levels in over a decade.

Starting today, Steamboat Springs resort in North-Central Colorado, will be offering passes at $879, the lowest level in nearly a decade. The new pre-season saving period is unique because pass holders lock in the special rates with simply a $100 non-refundable deposit, and then pay the remainder of the balance by October 1st.

Steamboat Springs, created in 1963, is the site of frequent international ski competitions. The resort features 179 mountain runs, 24 lifts, and hundreds of miles of nordic ski trails.

For more information on Steamboat Springs, visit the resort’s Web site.

The only people willing to commit to buying a pass7 mos before the season starts are the same ones willing to pay a premium for the same privilege next yr. They’re leaving dough on the table. My 2 cents anyway.
