Massively Multiplayer Online Virtual Nightclub (MMOVN): The Lounge

Now you can get yourself drunk, high or puke anywhere chat, dance, ogle at Pussycat Dolls and socialize in The Lounge (pcdmusiclounge.com), a virtual nightclub by Doppelganger (a start-up company) that is going to kick arse anytime this May. The Lounge is designed for the teens to mix around in a 3D environment (like Sims and World of Worldcraft), not in 2D nature like MySpace and YouTube. Obviously, this virtual nightclub is emulating MySpace and YouTube which are so successful in creating outrageously huge online communities (and money too).

Club-goers can select their characters’ hair colour, clothes and even posture so that they won’t be the center of attraction (with negative connotation) among the crowds. As stated…

Young men will have a choice of standing erect or slouching in a cool, Brando-kind of way.

Erm, erect.

Anyway, besides building the next MySpace or YouTube, the Lounge is also created to introduce the idea of a nightclub to rural places in the world. This is not a bad idea, it will be another fun virtual place to connect teenagers from different places.

For the parents out there…

Parents should note that the characters are automatically prevented from engaging in fighting or any sexual activity. The characters are mostly limited to walking, dancing and listening to music.

“About the raciest thing they are allowed to do is blow a kiss,” said Littlefield, who added that later editions will allow characters to hold hands.

But here’s the part I find it funny, Doppelganger mentioned…

Parents can also act as the club doorman to prevent their child from entering.

Hmm, I can’t imagine parents act as bouncers and doormen to prevent their kids from entering to the virtual nightclubs. LOL.

Imagine a bunch of parents standing outside the door lamenting, trading parenting tips, yada-yada. It seems the virtual nightclub is more for the parents. That’s lame.

  1. [...] Last night, I was ready to go to a real nightclub (MOS, Ministry of Sound) instead of a virtual one but it just happened that the whole thing was called off at the very last minute. So I spent my lonely night looking for some don’t-have-to-use-my-brain games to play. And I stumbled across this American Dad Vs. Family Guy Kung Fu Flash Game which was damn funny and interesting.
