McCain Suspends Discussion Of Financial Bailout
Republican Nominee Wants to Focus on Bailing Out the Bailout Before Holding Discussions on the Actual Bailout
Wily political maverick John McCain pulled another trick out of his, um … hat today as he announced he will be suspending all discussions about the Treasury’s $700 billion bailout. McCain announced he will do so in order to concentrate on discussions to bail out the bailout.
“At this time, salvaging the bailout is just too important to the country to spend time focusing on the actual bailout,” McCain told Katie Couric before heading toward a meeting with top government officials to discuss how to save the historical power grab.
Before attending the meeting to salvage the plan to salvage the economy, McCain stopped by the local Denny’s Restaurant noting that, “In order to focus on the task before us, I first need to focus on eating breakfast.”
Democrats initially criticized the McCain campaign, noting that the suspension of activities didn’t apply to appearances by Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
When Palin responded to questions concerning the bailout by calling her husband and asking, “Todd, have we got water in our basement again?!”… the Democrats decided it wasn’t worth pressing the issue.
