Steve McNair was shot by his girlfriend as most of us thought as reported by the associated press.
Geez, the murder weapon was lying underneath her and she had one nice clean shot to her head. Steve was sleeping when she shot him four times.

It appears that his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, had some money problems and suspected that McNair was cheating on her with another young girl. The answer to that we may never find out, but then neither will Kazemi.
Kazemi had actually followed another women home that she thought was romantically involved with Steve. As far as police can tell, she did not confront the other women.
