Me Time: Business Spring Cleaning

In the midst of the Spring season did you do “spring cleaning” on your business? What I mean by this is did you refine processes or clear out clutter or maybe review future financial plans. If you didn’t, I would like to encourage to stop and take some “me time” for your business today to do your own version of business “spring cleaning”.

spring-cleaning2To help you with some of the things that you can do during your “spring cleaning” process, I created an acronym using the letters of the word Spring. See below:

  • Surface cleaning for your desktop. Clear off the stacks of paper or the clutter so that you can at least see the top of your desk. Then setup intervals of when you will do this on a regular basis.
  • Purge your files. This could be your paper or electronic files. If you don’t need something for tax or business purposes, then it’s time to shred it and throw it away.
  • Recycle. What more can I say than to encourage you to recycle those things that can be recycled like plastics, paper, etc.
  • Incorporate streamling. Look at your business processes to see how you can streamline the steps for completing a particular task.
  • Next business level. Make plans that will include taking your business to the next level. You will need to determine what the next level will look like and then start taking steps to achieve it. Maybe you are currently an occasional Tweeter (a person who uses Twitter) and the next level for you would be to increase how much you tweet (the process of sending messages via Twitter).
  • Green business. Find ways that you can add green business principles into your daily business management. For tips on how you can “green” your business, please visit Earth911.com’s Green Business Checklist.

Sound Off: Please share how you have been “spring cleaning” your business.
