Ken Schrader is definitely someone that gets overlooked far too easily. But, alas, the only way I can see him landing a ride with any of the top teams next season is if something happens that makes the #33 at Childress available to him.

Yeah, I was really happy to see him up there racing with Dale Jr. for a potential win at Michigan. You’re right, though, the guy’s had horrible luck these last couple seasons. Hopefully that’ll all change soon.

Ron, as always, thanks for the compliment, brother. As for the McMurray ordeal, personally, I’d like to see him somewhere else. Roush is a great organization and McMurray’s a very talented driver, but for whatever reason, the tandem has just never clicked.

I agree that Jamie McMurray and Casey Mears are underrated. I also think McMurray has horrrible luck. He was poised to win at Dover a little while ago, but Kenseth ended up winning, I think. He also could have won Michigan, if he had rolled the dice. (Nice to see him and Dale Jr. racing for the win.)

You’re the man Tim! Up to date with the latest and I’m hoping that they don’t release McMurray, I think McMurray has alot to prove over the next few races and feel as if he can do it.

Hopefully after this weekend he’ll have a boost of confidence as we all know that winning has a lot to do with momentum. He ran well.

And, yes, I could definitely see Hendrick going after Newman, but I really feel strongly that there’s something there with them and Mark Martin. I see Newman as a great fit for Roush once Jack finally announces the release of McMurray.

Sometimes I think we get too caught up in discounting a driver’s abilities based solely on what they couldn’t do in top equipment. Mears and McMurray have both floundered since joining Hendrick and Roush respectively, but to me, they’re both still tremendously underrated … especially McMurray. Let’s not forget that they both put up very respectable numbers over at Ganassi, which is a place that most drivers have found it tough to find success at as of late.

I agree. Granted Mears has one win, he never shined in a car that Kyle Busch drove to victory lane 4 times (I think). Should the Martin/Keselowski rumor turn out to be false, I wonder if Ryan Newman would be considered. He pretty much called out Penske Racing the other day. Heck, Newman could end up in a DEI car, though unlikely.
