Memorial Day – A Pre-Tailgate Experience

Did you all have a great Memorial Day? I got to spend a gorgeous day outside with people I enjoy…and these people make hella good cookout food.
And really, that just got me excited for tailgating. It’s the same basic idea – food that you can make on the grill or prepare ahead of time and that you can eat as you’re walking around talking to people. Small portions are best so that you can take some of everything and trade foods with your neighbors.
What did you have at your memorial day cookout? Here’s a list of some of the foods we had. I highly recommend them for your fall tailgating!

What can you add to the list?

I tried a few new grilling recipes this weekend -
pasta with grilled mushrooms and onions; grilled corn on the cob (yes, I know that it’s too early for good corn); grilled burgers (clearly, not new) on grilled toast (kinda new); and, the one I thought was most yummy grilled “potato chips” – really they were more like pan fried potatoes – I saw Paula Deen make something similar on the Food Network – so I thought I’d give it a try – a little labor intensive – but tasty.
