Michael Moore Names New Documentary

Michael Moore’s upcoming documentary about his theories on what has caused the economic crisis has finally been named.  You can expect to see Capitalism: A Love Story in theaters on October 2, 2009.

michael moore As Variety reports, Moore said the following about the film: “It will be the perfect date movie.  It’s got it all — lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It’s a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let’s just say it: It’s capitalism.”

I think the date of the film’s release is meant to be significant since it’s opens a day after the one-year anniversary of the U.S. Senate’s decision to approve the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street.

I’m very interested in this film about “the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world.”  I think that my own little family talks about these very issues on a regular basis at the dinner table.  I hope that he raises the important issues as I feel he did with Sicko (2007), Farenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine.

You may not agree with the way that Moore presents his films but don’t let that stand in the way of the information he provides.  When Farenheit first came out, so many criticised him for suggesting that something far more sinister than terrorism was the root of the problem.  Today, after years of learning more about the horrific events of September 11, 2001, many people share his belief.

While I’m looking forward to seeing what he has come up with, I’m also afraid of what I will learn about what he calls “the biggest swindle in American history.”
