Michelada – So what is it?

I enjoy a good cocktail. And I have to say, I would not generally consider mixing a cocktail with beer… But this recipe caught my eye. And I’m planning on giving it a whirl.

The cocktail is called a Michelada (also called a cerveza preparada) and the recipe was in the June 2008 issue of Bon Appetit:

1 lime wedge
Chile with salt and lime seasoning
Ice cubes
1 T lime juice
1 dash hot pepper sauce
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 12-oz bottle Dos Equis lager

Run lime wedge around rim of 20 oz glass to moisten. Pour seasoning onto small plate; dip rim of glass in seasoning. Fill glass with ice. Add lime juice, hot pepper sauce, and Worcestershire sauce to glass. Add beer. Sprinkle with more seasoning and serve.
