Microsoft Buys Yahoo!

Okay, the title isn’t quite accurate, but according to rumors that Microsoft did offer Yahoo! $80B to take the company. That’s $80,000,000,000 for anyone counting, and it wasn’t enough.

Imagine the landscape if Microsoft were to successfully negotiate that deal. Google might have a little bit more to worry about then. I might not have to make that final decision between my Yahoo! or Hotmail account as my preferred.

Do you think Yahoo! would suffer more of a hit to it’s user base because people didn’t like the new association with Microsoft, or do you think Microsoft would benefit as much to offset that concern or more.

I think a lot of people wouldn’t like it at first, then when the two companies, or, rather, the company started rolling out a steady stream of amazing new apps and technology, people will wonder why they were ever against it
