Microsoft Free Morro

I learned to love Microsoft Live OneCare and despite it’s annoying Family protection pop-up everytime I load Windows Vista, I still appreciate all the other features that come with OneCare.
But apparently, Microsoft had other plans with their Live OneCare — death. That’s right, Microsoft has announced they are no longer supporting Microsoft Live OneCare and instead offer a security freebie called Morro. It is said that Morro would use less computing resources and would have a smaller footprint. Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. One of the gripe I have with OneCare is how it eats up my Windows Vista resources and news on Morro is a nice welcome to start 2009 when Microsoft is expected to release their security freebie.
As they have announced: The new solution will deliver the same core protection against malware as that offered through Microsoft’s enterprise solutions, but will not include many of the additional non-security features found in many consumer security suites.
