Microsoft goes for gamers (again) with Games Advisor

My, they do like gamers at Redmond, Wash. What with Xbox 360, Media Player 11, and Media Center PC all aiming for world domination, there’s more than a whiff of gamer hogwash around.
Microsoft Game Advisor is a new tool, part of the Vista generation of products, which will act as a gaming dashboard and portal.
According to PlayGirlz the Game Advisor will :
Learn about hundreds of games you can play on computers running Windows.
See if your computer has the hardware you need to play a game before you buy it … the Game Advisor scans your system so you don’t have to guess.
Find games that are right for you based on your age and interests If you like a particular game, you can find games that are similar.
Read game reviews and ratings from users like you, and add your own ratings and reviews to share with others.
Download bonus game content.
Check out game demos, trailers, screenshots, and updates.
Create a profile so the Game Advisor remembers you and your system, which makes finding the right games even easier.
Read Windows gaming news.
Buy the games you like online.

Hello John, Just letting you know that I have tried emailing you about a link exchange but am getting a “The recipient cannot be verified” message.
Great blog by the way!
I agree, Vista “seems” to be but if you are a gamer, consider the upgrade costs to a PC and then look at a dedicated game player like Playstation 3, Nintendo or whatever else you have an interest in. The fact is it can cost you as much for a high end graphics board as it would for a dedicated game player. The added cost for upgrading ram, hard drive and other hardware to run DX10 with Vista drives the cost of doing it, over the top and out of the area of common sense. Apparently Vista has already been hacked and you can get DX10 to run on XP. I’m still trying to figure out why Vista still has no “extras” that MS was talking about before it was made available. I still have no idea what “extras” they were talking about and it’s near on a year since they started retailing it. Anyone got any answers about the “extras” they were talking about ? MS ?
