Niall Kennedy is one of the newest individuals with a Microsoft badge. Niall comes from Technorati and will be work to further develop the syndication efforts that Microsoft will be using in the future through RSS and Atom technology.
“I want RSS and Atom syndication technologies to be available anywhere, integrated as the background technology delivering new information when and where it matters most,” Kennedy wrote.
RSS support will be built into both Internet Explorer 7 (would IEVII be more unique way to refer to it?) and Windows Vista. I’m sure there will be plenty of his attention focused on the SSE functionality that I had written about quite awhile back on the Office 12 Watch blog. SSE seems to be a 2-way version of the functionality of RSS that Microsoft if hoping to be used as a method for people to interact with each other’s RSS feeds of information to exchange data. For example, having a calendar shared as an SSE functionality would allow me to not only see your calendar but also interact with it by submitting proposed changes or new appointments back to you with the same feed.
