It turns out that MSN isn’t dead, they’re actually expanding south into Mexico.
SAO PAULO, Brazil, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — BuscaPe.com Group (http://www.buscape.com/), which is owner of the largest Comparison Shopping Network in Latin America, and Microsoft MSN (NASDAQ:MFST) announce a partnership in Mexico that will benefit more than 12 million users who visit the Prodigy/MSN site. Starting now, they will be able to research and compare prices for products and services at more than 400 stores, as well as access a database of nearly two million products.
According to Romero Rodrigues, CEO and Founder of BuscaPe.com Inc. (http://www.buscape.com/), the agreement should ensure 50% growth in Mexico. "We will offer a safe, fast way to make an intelligent purchase through the Internet, while the ability to compare prices will provide the user the assurance of making a good purchase," he points out.
Okay, so MSN isn’t really expanding, but their partnership with BuscaPe.com does give them a little bit more visibility in the region, that’s for sure.
I’m not sure what it is though, MSN just doesn’t interest me. Am I confused about what they offer? It’s Microsoft Network right? Network of what? Why don’t I just go where I want, when I want on the real “network” of the Internet? Is it a portal? Doesn’t feel like it. Do I need it as a portal? Don’t think I do.
What am I missing? Is anyone missing it?

That’s the same thing I’ve always though. What’s the point of MSN in today’s world? It was a network when the internet was still young, but now there’s little reason to use MSN.
Articles are recycled from other publishers (except MSNBC), the site design is crappy, and there’s not much compelling content to look at except MSN Entertainment stuff. Microsoft ought to redo MSN somehow or kill it. It’s like one of those eyesores…
