Microsoft is beefing up their players for the VoIP and small business phone systems with their release of Response Point to manufacturing.
Response Point is an integral piece of Microsoft’s comprehensive voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) strategy, which addresses communications and messaging needs for businesses of all sizes through the power and flexibility of software. Response Point’s user-friendly management center empowers an average computer user to set up a phone or make system changes in minutes. And the unique voice-enabled user interface instantly connects employees and customers with the people or information they need.
The systems are pretty pricey in my opinion if they’re really going after small-businesses. $2500 will get you started with a base station, four phones and the Microsoft powered software. Additional phones are $159.
The press release didn’t say anything about some of the actual functionality that would compare it to features already available in the market from other providers. I wonder how far this will go and if it will really be something that Microsoft sticks with in the long-haul.
