Microsoft Tech Support

Obviously a doctored picture but humorous nonetheless. I don’t think we necessarily need to single out India as the solitary place for all outsourced tech support either. I don’t mind calling tech support and speaking to someone of another nationality, just as long as they can speak clearly and be understood over the phone.

My biggest grievance with tech support most of the time is that I know more about a computer than the first line of defense you normally get on the phone after waiting a couple of hours. I think after a few calls, you should be promoted to a different “caller level” and get the second or third unit for your future calls.

I also love throwing questions at people that aren’t in their “script” of responses. Let’s see how they handle this one.

My other favorite is when you’re calling about problems with your computer accessing the Internet and the person on the phone tells you to go download the latest driver updates from their website. Genius! Now if I could only get on the Internet I wouldn’t be talking to you now would I?
