Mini Ban Boredom
Mini are doing a lovely little cinema promotion at the moment, where they bring you some short film before the main feature, framed front and back with big Mini ads. Procrastination is one of the ones I’ve seen a few times.
But I’m not too sure about their latest microsite, Mini Ban Boredom. The premise is simple – choose an image of an object (or let Mini choose one) and you’ll get a movie with the car jumping through it. One thing I’ve not seen before is the ability to add an URL, so that the web page is pulled up.
The site itself is extremely well done, great graphics/movies etc. But as a whole it left me going ‘is that it?’ I felt it needed more, for the effort that has gone to into it to make it look as good. The final screen lets me ’send to a friend’ but I’m not sure if I’m sending the video I just made or just the link. If the video, how about letting me send it to mobiles? I’m left wanting more – so what’s next?

Hey Rachel
Thanks for your comments on the Ban boredom site. as it’s really valuable for us to get feedback from users on how they found the project. Regarding your point on the send to a friend element, we can see how this may cause confusion if it is your first time to the site so following your feedback, if you check the site again later on today you will see that we are changing the wording to make it more clear.
Good point about mobile – We did initially look at enabling it to be sent to multiple platforms however, given the file size of the animation compared to screen resolution on most handsets, it would have not been a good user experience.
You mention that after all the effort we put into the animation of the site, you expected more at the end. What types of extensions to the campaign would you like to see can you elaborate a bit more? Would you want to control the smash yourself? Would you like to see more sharing options etc?
Thanks Rachel
