Minor leaguer traded for 10 baseball bats

I know everyone’s heard the joke about a player that is insignificant getting traded for a bag of balls, but today on Yahoo!, there is a true story about a minor league player getting traded for 10 baseball bats.

John Odom is the sorry sap that is on the wrong end of this trade. He will forever be linked with this joke.

For now, Odom is headed to the Laredo Broncos of the United League. They got him Tuesday from the Calgary Vipers of the Golden Baseball League for a most unlikely price: 10 Prairie Sticks Maple Bats, double-dipped black, 34-inch, C243 style.

I’m really sorry for Mr. Odom. There’s nothing worse than being the punchline of a joke, especially one like this in the game of baseball.
