Mission impossible? Selling an unfinished home

Think you’re having trouble selling your home in today’s struggling real estate market? Try selling a house that isn’t finished.

The New York Times recently ran an interesting story about the struggles owners face when trying to sell vacant homes that haven’t yet been finished. You can read the story here.

This makes sense. It’s hard for buyers to imagine a dream home when the house they’re looking at boasts exposed insulation, missing walls and no fixtures or appliances.

The fact that so many owners are trying to sell unfinished homes is a result, of course, of the housing slump. Property owners with big dreams found themselves without enough cash to finish their projects, especially as housing values dipped.
