WiTricity

Scientists have speculated about wireless power for centuries, but the recent explosion of mobile devices has made it a sorely-lacking necessity. Enter WiTricity, a system developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and recently demoed with a 60W light bulb powered from seven feet away. Max range is nine feet, no line of sight required. Don’t worry, it won’t fry your brain: WiTricity relies on electromagnetic resonance, so only objects designed to resonate will charge up.
