MMORPGs coming to PSP?

PSP rumors have it that there is an MMORPG in the works entitled: A Darker Sky, exclusively for the PSP. Perhaps this is the kind of thing that will help the PSP increase its sales now that DS has its Nintendogs on the loose. Or maybe it will be a disaster all together. Who knows. I’m curious to see how a handheld MMORPG would pan out, though.

According to the game site:

The Year is 2506. Humankind has spread across the galaxy, forever splintering into thousands of new colonies, meeting alien cultures, merging, moving outward.

Massive wormholes allow one-way travel to the farthest reaches of the galaxy, where outlaws and desperados reign. Small colonies defend themselves against pirates and local rebellions, while space traders and smugglers ferry goods from station to station, always afraid of attack, always hoping for a chance to make millions.

This is your world, where every decision can change your life… or end it. Find new trade opportunities and equip your very own space ship. You can become a master trader or a feared pirate. Be an experienced engineer or a far-traveled explorer. It’s your choice.

Thousands upon thousands of star systems are waiting for you, where you will make new friends and meet old enemies. Fly outward, ever outward, where there is A Darker Sky.

Coming soon to your Sony PSP. Watch this space for announcements about our public beta program in late 2005
