Mobile 1 Power Plant

Last Friday I had the honor to be chosen as a ribbon-cutter at the formal opening of Mobile1 Rockwell, the newest branch of a popular chain of mobile tech stores in the Philippines. It’s located at the parking level of the Power Plant Mall in Metro Manila, a very unique location since it’s the first thing you’d see coming up from the parking basement on the south end of the mall.
It specializes, like the magazine I edit, in all the gadgets you can lug around: digital music players, cameras, laptops, PDAs, cellphones, accessories – with a special focus on Apple products, since they are an authorized reseller. There are even iMacs and Mac minis on stock. Perfect place for the mobile warrior. That’s why their catch phrase is perfect: Digital Lifestyle for Everyone.
At the opening were the people behind Mobile1, among them Jun Villanueva (who cut the ribbon with me) and the ever-efficient Jed Quiambao, a lot of guests and friends from the local tech communities like Elbert Cuenca, Chairman of PhilMUG, and top site/forum designer Nino Pasamonte ( designer of three of the top tech forums in the country, including PhilMUG), PC Magazine Philippines Editor-in-Chief Art Ilano and co-blogger Jayvee Fernandez (of course).
If you’re ever in our neck of the woods, drop by a Mobile1 branch; they’d likely have everything you could need. We at the The AfterMac just wanted to take the time out to congratulate Mobile1 on their new branch, and for me, personally say thank you for the honor of cutting the ribbon on their formal launching.
Godspeed!

Nice store, great selections… but bad location. :(
I’ve passed by the store at least five times but only had the chance to go inside once — probably because it is only accessible through the entrance of the basement level.
If this is at the True Value side entrance, I’m doomed! This is were I park all the time.
Yes, Maddie, you’re doomed.
iBern, you can always go down into the basement level from the Food Court area at the True Value end. No need to park at that end itself. The location just eliminates casual walk-ins for the store. Jun Villanueva tells me they plan to move elsewhere there when a space opens up. Besides, if you’re really a geek with a yen for some gear (and the budget for it), you’ll pass by, wherever you park in the mall. :)
Oh, foo. I just missed a chance to razz you, darn it — Rockwell is a sneeze away from where I live.
Glad to hear about the new store. Mobile1 Greenbelt is where I bought my PocketPC, and also my Palm TungstenW (yeah, dating myself here). Must drop by sometime!
