Every Monday night, I’ll be highlighting one of the game’s players’ college careers, so stop back every week to check out some “back in the day” stats about current NFL players. For more in NFL football news, check out b5’s
Every Morning Quarterback.
Tonight’s Spotlight: Adam “Pacman” Jones
Current Team, Number, Position: Dallas Cowboys, 21, Cornerback/Return Specialist
Current Stats: He didn’t play in 2007, due to troubles off the field. Prior to that, he had 115 career tackles and four interceptions.
College: West Virginia
Draft: Round 1, Pick 6 by the Tennessee Titans
College Highlights: Let’s forget about Pacman’s Adam’s legal troubles and NFL career for a moment…he was a great player at West Virginia. He was named to the All-Big East second team in 2003 and first team the following year, and was named the 2004 Big East Special Teams Player of the Year while in college. That year, the Mountaineers played in
the Gator Bowl, which led to an unfortunate ending to his career – a fumbled return early in the game.
Jones’ father was shot and killed when he was a toddler, and he was raised by his mother and grandmother. As a freshman, his grandmother passed away after battling cancer, and he missed a game to attend her funeral. During the draft, he wore a shirt with his grandmother’s picture on it in her honor.
It will be interesting to see if he can shed his skin with the Cowboys, so to speak, cleaning up his professional life and returning to focusing on the game, not partying in strip clubs with Nelly.
