Morph Junk Food into Muscle Fuel

Americans have bad diets.  We know it and there’s not too much we’re going to do about it.  However, there is a way to get all the satisfaction from some our faves while cutting fat and thus eating more efficiently.  Here are some prime targets and ways to attack them.

Hamburger – Use whole grain wheat and lean, grass fed beef.  Mix spinach into the meat.  You won’t even know the difference.

Pizza – Go thin crust and use half the cheese.  Replace the pepperoni or sausage with chicken breast.  If you don’t mind a little fresh vegetable topping, it’s that much better.

Nachos – Use baked corn chips and pinto beans (fiber booster).  Also replace the high fat cheese with low fat cheddar.  If you must have sour cream, go non-fat.

Make these changes.  Your food won’t be as greasy, fatty, or empty caloried.  You’ll give yourself a nutrition boost and skimp on fat and calories.  These foods still aren’t perfect, but much better than you were eating.

Now go build that muscle.

I always love when you put these types of posts together! It is useful in every day life and doesn’t require going to the gym.

My only suggestoin is that you can use ground turkey meant (it’s not all super low in fat or dry) and combined onions, spinach and Oprah says she adds apples. I make sure to flavor mine with a little Worchestershire sauce for moisture.

    Thanks Jeanne.

I try to get as diverse as I can within the scope of weight lifting.

Great suggestion. Ground turkey is an awesome alternative.
