Most Fun Player to Watch? #1 Gus Hansen

There are lots of reasons watching poker on TV is entertaining, though some players are obviously more entertaining than others.

My personal favorite for a long while now has been Gus Hansen. He seems the obvious choice as his game varies so greatly and people never seem to be able to put him on a hand, so you know you are going to be subject to some pretty innovative poker.

The World Poker Tour season 3 DVD has a game where Gus busts the first 3 players at the table in about 15 minutes, and the rest of the 2 hour broadcast is some pretty wild play between Gus, Daniel Negreanu and Hoyt Corkins. There’s also a featured commentary track by Daniel where he explains his thinking on the hands, which is pretty invaluable insight. I may have watched that 10 times by now.

I mostly laugh whenever I hear people say that poker is an art, but if anyone is close to a Duchamp in this arena, it’s Mr. Hansen.

For some other interesting reading material, you can check out Gus’s blog here.
