On certain Motorola phones you will soon be able to access Blockbuster’s OnDemand service. Blockbuster, which has struggled to survive during these turbulent economic times, hopes that this move will give it an edge on the competition.
Kevin Lewis of Blockbuster explains how the growing functionality of mobile phones has opened doors.

Said Lewis: “People are increasingly relying on their mobile phones to stay connected to the things they love the most — including their favorite movies and TV shows. The integration of our Blockbuster OnDemand service into Motorola’s mobile phones will provide access to thousands of movies from the moment someone initiates their service.”
Once upon a time, Blockbuster was a lucrative company. Nowadays, they are facing fierce competition from a number of different directions include Redbox and NetFlix. Going the mobile route gives Blockbuster another possible avenue to success.
For Motorola, this deal allows them to offer more content to customers. Video entertainment on mobile phones is a field that is growing very quickly. Partnering with a name brand like Blockbuster gives Motorola’s video selection instant credibility.
