CA -based Mr. Pickles is known for the little extras, including warm welcomes and lollipops in every sandwich bag. I live in San Mateo – and frequent one of the first (if not THE first) Mr. Pickles’ shops – on El Camino Real in San Mateo. Their sandwiches are VERY good – very big and very good. I’m just curious as to how Mr. P’s would translate out of the Bay Area as it has a very ‘SF Peninsula’ feel to it – many of the sandwiches are named after local High School and college mascots and to tell you the truth, it just doesn’t FEEL like a franchise or chain. The San Mateo store is located just a few steps away from a McDonald’s and generally the line is out the door…it’s a very bare-bones operation, small storefront being run by high school kids for the most part…just interesting to see that it’s being touted as a franchise opportunity. I hope the first store doesn’t lose its feeling or taste as a result!

STOP!!! Do not get yourself into a Pickle, a Mr Pickles Sandwich Shop that is. I bought into the higly toughted “Mr. Pickles Franchise” in nevada and found out from experience that their poor business practices, hidden fees, no business model and absolutly no franchisor support undermines the franchisees opertunities for success. Don’t do it. With a success rate of less than 40% it is a bad deal. Don’t get yourself in a Pickle. Do your research on the net, in the paper, secretary of state, better business bureau, ect. Be carefull

What’s got you sour on Mr. Pickle?

Well as I remember it the Mr. Pickle’s Store you purchased was doing amazing until you stopped following the plan, purchased unauthorized product, stopped cleaning your store, cheating your customers and so much more that the State of Nevada has filed charges against you. It was apparent this ws not the business for you. The time involved in food service is neverending. You cannot just work a few months and think it will all just come walking through the door. You had and amazing customer base, brining in some of the top numbers in all of Mr. Pickle’s your first months and let them go. Your franchisor support was constant and never ending. You failed to pay your contractor etc. Loren you know the truth. You broke the law and did not care how it affected others.. THERE WERE NO HIDDEN FEES AND THERE WAS DEFINATELY A BUSINESS MODEL.
The reason the store is now closed is do to the economy and the mess you created. I will not continue to speak my mind as it is not appropriate on the internet.
