MSN Gator: search from with a pop-up?

This one has got to go in the very wierd basket, but apparently Microsoft is considering buying Claria, the company that was formerly known as Gator, best know as being market leaders in the Adware field. Sort of makes sense though, I mean Microsoft has bought virus protection companies so has a play on the right hand side of its own inadequate code within Windows, so why not make a play on the evil side as well and manipulate Windows to serve ads to unsuspecting users. The reason given is that Microsoft wants Claria’s ad serving technology and user base for MSN Search…I didn’t think serving ads was that hard….
