Over the last two weeks Myspace.com’s legal department was in high swing, not only were they going after the one of the largest spammers that the site has faced but they took a preemptive step against some of the possible tools he was able to use.

Multiple software sites that provide programs for people to add friends, send messages, and comment automatically (which is against the terms of service of myspace) were served with legal notice. The websites of bottower, adder robot, and other major myspace software programs have since been taken down.
According to the owner of adder robot they did receive a cease and desist letter from the legal department, according to a message that they posted on the adder robot forums:
Ok everyone, I’m going to make this as clear as possible!
WE DID RECIEVE A CEASE AND DESIST LETTER FROM MYSPACE!

This move by myspace closes down an easy and automated way for a company to promote themselves on the website, making the leg work a little more complex. We will examine some of the newer techniques available to promote yourself on one of the most trafficked websites around.
