Myspace plan virtual US presidental primary

This article from yahoo news offers up the plan that myspace.com has to run virtual primaries in early 2008. I found this little tidbit interesting on two fronts.

On the purely political side I find it interesting that this is a way to engage the youth of the nation and internet users that might not follow politics in a traditional way. Myspace is launching an impact channel that is built around the elections, with all the negative coverage that this site gets I found this refreshing to read. It sure beats another sex predator story.

The other item that I found interesting in this was some of the stats that were reported:

Approximately 85 percent of the nearly 65 million US residents that visit MySpace monthly are at least 18 years old, legal voting age, according to statistics from Internet industry tracker comScore Media Metrics.

Obviously the politicians are starting to pay attention to MySpace, can your business afford not to?
