Name that Detroit Tigers pitcher

June 11, 2008 by Tony Baldwin

It’s time for another fun game of “Name that Detroit Tigers pitcher!” Why? Because Dontrelle Willis wasn’t the savior everyone thought he would be and was sent down to Class A Lakeland Tuesday by the Tigers. Detroit has also experienced many injuries within its starting rotation and in the bullpen. So, the Tigers will now call up another farmhand to take Willis’ spot in the rotation, which is this Saturday.

Which lucky minor league pitcher gets a chance to step up for the Tigers? Well – the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Jim Leyland is strongly leaning towards Eddie Bonine.

While Willis is buffing up on the basics of pitching in the low-minors, it’s time for Detroit fans to learn yet another name and hope that Mr. Bonine can be as good as Armando Galarraga, who has proven he belongs at the big league level.
