Nasa LogoNASA recently announced the PAV Challenge (Personal Air Vehicle Challenge). Cash prizes up for grabs total $250,000 for various aviation technology improvements to be awarded at the EAA AirVenture 2006 Oshkosh fly-in. Contestants will modify current general aviation aircraft or light sport aircraft in five different areas.

“The intent of the PAV Challenge is to encourage innovation in the amateur and sporting aviation communities to help enhance the general aviation transportation system,” said NASA’s Associate Administrator for the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, Dr. J. Victor Lebacqz. “This prize competition is a great follow-on to previous NASA investments in small aircraft and complements existing industry consortia in general aviation,” he added.

So go get cracking on your designs! I’m not sure which competition the folks here at flightnest will enter… but we might come up with something! :)
