NASCAR Goes Streaming

*Credit racingmilestones.com for photoFor years and years and years NASCAR drivers, teams, and even the sanctioning body itself have participated in various charities, tributes, and other “feel good” events. NASCAR has given so much back to the community, in fact, that many of us tend to take their generosity and patriotism for granted at times. As I was visiting several sites last week, one upcoming charity even inparticularly caught my eye. On December 7th, the Ryan Newman Foundation (spearheaded by Ryan Newman & his wife Krissie) will put on their third annual charity dinner & auction, and then on the 8th they will hold their second annual fishing tournament.

The event is open to all fans to participate for a fee. Newman will be joined by fellow drivers Martin Truex Jr and Regan Smith, and several drivers will have autographed memorabilia on hand for the auction. Proceeds are to be disbursed to various wildlife and conservation organizations, and the grand prize for the fishing tournament is a 198VX Ranger Boat powered by a 200 HP Evinrude motor. The event will be held at Lake Norman in Mooresville, NC.

Is it me or does it look like Newman is having a little too much fun in that picture?

  2. TrackHazard4Real says:

I think if Newman was smart he’d worry a little less about fishing and figure out how to get is car changed over from qualifying set-up to race set-up.

  3. Don says:

Probably what you can’t see is Kurt Bush baiting his hook.

  4. Leo says:

I bet he played the flute in the marching band.

  5. Tim Zaegel says:

I personally just think it’s great anytime we see professional athletes go out of their way on their own personal time to orchestrate events like this, especially when there’s no monetary gain for them involved in the end.

  6. Trackhazard4Real says:

    Me Too.
