NASCAR Tees Off

HorsePower Sports Marketing (HSM) is putting together a six-event golfing tournament of sorts that will feature 8 professional and semi-pro golfers paired with 8 of NASCAR’s finest personalities. The events will air on the SPEED network and all six of the events are scheduled for the weekend of their respective races. The venues include Charlotte, Chicago, Michigan, Watkins Glen, and Dover. The competition is called the Horsepower Tee Shot Tour.
Amongst the pro’s are Brooks Baldwin, Kevin Bullard, Sean Fister, Vince Howell, Scott Ionno, Danny Luirette, JD Murkerson, and Carl Wolter. Currently representing NASCAR are the likes of Hermie Sadler, Elliott Sadler, Stephen Leicht, JJ Yeley, and the newest addition Brian Vickers, with three more personalities still to be negotiated.
When asked about being added to the competition, Vickers stated, “With our schedule the way it is, it’s hard for me to get out there and play a round of golf. The Horse Power Tee Shot Tour is a great opportunity for me to have some fun on the tee box with some of my racing buddies. It’s going to be nice to just grip it and rip it. Hitting a golf ball long and straight is always a tough challenge, but I am hoping I can keep it between the trees!”
The events will be hosted by Jeff Hammond and Pat Dempsey. The first event is scheduled for May 15th, the weekend of the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motorspeedway.
