April 18 through 24 is National Wildlife Week in the United States. This national observance, begun in 1938, encourages children and adults to experience nature by learning about wildlife and conservation in their community.

Activities include taking part in the wildlife watch programs, including the annual Backyard Bird Count, nature walks, and lectures at local nature centers.
Across the U.S., more than 71 million people enjoy watching wildlife each year, and nearly 30.5 million regularly photograph wildlife.
