Nationwide Series Results / Standings: California

After a long weekend full of rain and constant rescheduling, the Nationwide Series finally took the track this afternoon after the Auto Club 500 finally finished and Tony Stewart lived up to every bit of his nickname as he “smoked” the field. While Stewart led 136 of the 150 laps of the Stater Bros. 300, the real race took place in the battle for second. It took thirty laps to do, but Kyle Busch finally wrestled second place away from David Reutimann to – for the second week in a row – finish runner-up to his Gibbs teammate. Reutimann eventually lost that position as well to Kevin Harvick and finished the race in fourth. Rounding out the top five was Carl Edwards, winner of the Sprint Cup Series’ race earlier in the day.

is busch driving for gibbs in the truck series? If so they lead all three series.
No, he drives for Ballew Motorsports in the Truck Series. It is odd, though, that Toyota leads all three series. In fact, they own four of the top five spots in the Craftsman Truck Series, three of the top five in the Nationwide, and are first, third, and eleventh in the Sprint Cup Series.
They have proven in the early weeks in the season they are going to be a diffrent program this year now that they got a little bit of talent behind the wheels and the gibbs group will be a big factor
Tim,
You ought to do a race review on Stewart’s gut about to bust through that suit. I wonder if he has to run an abnormally stiffer spring package than everyone else.
Roc, I know that there were a lot of people out there calling for a good year from Toyota, but I’m personally miffed at how absolutely dominant / consistant they’ve been all around in all three series. Great start for them.
Don, the gut’s old news … I’m still trying to figure out how to incorporate the mullet into my teachings.
